Chronology of cameras Contax
The 137 and 139 were presented at Photokina 1978, where they rounded out the Contax range which for several years had included only one model, the RTS.
At this Kina, the 137 was the only reflex with an integrated motor system (IMS). It featured TTL flash metering, a first in its class. For this purpose, it had two cells: one traditionally placed near the eyepiece, and another inside the chamber for TTL flash metering. This model was later marketed as the 137 MD.
In 1982 (available in France from summer '83), the 137 MA Quartz was released, differing from the original 137 with an upgraded motor speed increased from 2 frames per second (i/s) to 3 i/s, and a redesigned film rewind crank.
